Thanks! You're headed in the right direction. One hint is that I generally (though not necessarily always) stick to wild species. So if you are looking in the Pacific Northwest, that limits the options a bit.
Also, anybody working on ids for the other plants in the picture?

I want to say an apple or cherry blossom, but I have a feeling those might not be correct....great photo!
